Cylinder piston

Piston is an integral part of reciprocating engine, reciprocating pump, gas compressor, hydraulic cylinder and cylinder and other similar mechanisms. It is a moving part contained in the cylinder and airtight through the piston ring. In the engine, its purpose is to transmit the force of the expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft through the piston rod or connecting rod.

Cylinder piston In mechanical engineering, a cylinder (piston) with a sliding closed head reciprocates through or against the pressure of the fluid in a slightly larger cylindrical cavity (cylinder), such as in an engine or pump. A cylinder steam engine (qv) is closed by plates at both ends. The piston rod is rigidly connected to the piston and passes through one of the end cover plates through the gland and stuffing box (airtight joint).

The cylinder piston is usually equipped with a Piston Seal Ring. These are round metal rings, which can be installed into the grooves of the piston wall and ensure the tight fit between the piston and the cylinder. They help to provide a Seal to prevent leakage of compressed gas around the piston and prevent lubricating oil from entering the combustion chamber. The position of the piston in the cylinder is controlled by a valve that delivers compressed air to the top or bottom of the cylinder. When the rod end and top of the cylinder are filled with compressed gas, the piston moves downward, and the gas under the piston is discharged through the exhaust pipe. The compressed gas entering the base moves the piston upward, and the gas above the cylinder piston is discharged.
